Les évolutions de la céramique ottomane à partir des années 1470 constituent une véritable révolution. Elle se compose d’une pâte siliceuse recouverte d’un engobe siliceux, ce qui est une première nouveauté. Le décor est ensuite peint avec des engobes et des glaçures colorés par des oxydes métalliques, puis couvert d’une glaçure plombifère particulière, qui n’a pas tendance à varier. Cette technique donne aux pièces une forte cohérence, un aspect très dur et les rend non poreuses. Outre des carreaux de revêtement, extrêmement nombreux, les ateliers Ottomans produisent diverses pièces de formes. Celles-ci s’inspirent parfois directement de modèles anciens, mais elles restent rares.
